After almost 4 months of working on this project I'm finished with my Rogue one Edrio "Two tubes" fan art. I've always been interested in this character/race from starwars since the release of: Rogue one A Star Wars Story and Solo. I also got really inspired by the visuals of Dice/EA's battlefront 1 and 2 models and quality.
This project have been really fun and a interesting learning experience, with both ups and downs during the making of it. The goal was to get it as close as possible to the movie costume instead of making my own character from the Tognath race. It have been alot of back and fourth with trying to nail the head shape and proportions. Early on in the project I struggled with it because I kept on having an image of the helmet from different angles on top of the sculpture and that was a mistake. All those images, from concept art to random photos from the movie set etc. is taken with all kinds of different cameras and focal lengths so it was really difficult to get the shapes right. After getting feedback and tips I instead had the images in pureref on my other monitor to train my eye and see the shapes instead of relying on overlaying an image. I'm really happy with what I have learned and how the character turned out in the end.
Character was sculpted in Zbrush and modeled in Maya, clothes made in Marvelous Designer, Retopologized and UV mapped in Maya, textures like normals and ao baked in Marmoset toolbag 4, Textured in substance painter, rigged and animated with Mixamos auto rig then lastly rendered in Marmoset toolbag 4.
